Fall Coronation 2025

We had a lovely two day event for Fall Coronation this year as it fell on a holiday weekend and also marked the 40th Anniversary of the Kingdom of Trimaris.

Marcus (Max) with the drop test kits.

For the past few months Marcus (Max) had been working to create 26 drop testers. A drop tester is a piece of equipment used to gauge whether fabric armor is sufficient for rapier fighting. This helps to ensure safer practice and tournaments. Each kit came in a custom bag with label for each local group.

The first tournament of the day was the Baronial Bragging Rights Tournament and I was asked to represent the Barony of Castlemere (the Jacksonville area). After some intense competition, I was honored to come in second place.

The second tournament of the day was the Steel and Roses Tournament.

The Teal Bliaut

Years ago I bought this lovely teal fabric with the intention of getting help turning it into a dress to wear at SCA events. It sat in a basket patiently waiting for its day. I finally got the chance to have some help from Vicky, who has a wealth of knowledge and expertise when it comes to making historical garments. Based on the amount of fabric I had she said the best option would be a bliaut, a popular style of dress from the eleventh to thirteenth centuries. She sewed the dress completely by hand in just over a week, and already had the black and gold trim on hand for the sleeves. Fun fact: Vicky was at the first practice I came to back in 2018 and was the person who took me by the hand and lead me directly onto the rapier field.

Trimaris Memorial Tourney 2025

Trimaris Memorial Tourney was extra special this year since we had a visit from Sergio, the much beloved leader of our household who moved to Texas last year. We got to spend a little time with him before he goes on his next adventure.

ARC Demo

Every year the Avian Reconditioning Center hosts a Spring Affaire. It is an event where history meets nature, as the SCA is invited to do flighting demos alongside the many lovely rescued birds. This was the first year I had been able to attend and I had a wonderful time.
